CURRENT AFFAIRS OF  14th MARCH, 2023

  1. International Day of Mathematics, also known as Pi Day, is annually observed across the globe on 14 March to create awareness about the importance of Mathematics in addressing the challenges in areas like Artificial Intelligence (AI), climate change, energy and sustainable development and to honour the mathematical constant Pi, which expresses the proportion of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. The theme of International day of Mathematics 2023 is “Mathematics for Everyone”.
  2. International Day of Action for Rivers is annually observed across the globe on 14 March, to bring attention to how important rivers are to our daily lives and to raise awareness of the disparities in access to clean water as well as the increased pollution of freshwater environments like rivers as a result of overt human activities. The theme of the International Day of Action for Rivers 2023 is “Rights of Rivers”. 
  3. The third edition of the multilateral maritime exercise ‘La Perouse’ conducted from 13-14 March, 2023 in Indian Ocean Region.
  4. Climate Entrepreneur Shreya Ghodawat appointed as India Ambassador of ‘She Changes Climate’ on 13 March, 2023.  
  5. The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has signed Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. as its title sponsor for the International boxing Association (IBA) Women’s World Boxing Championships 2023.
  6. An international conference on ‘Shared Buddhist Heritage’ was held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on 14-15 March, 2023 with a focus on India’s civilisational connect with the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
  7. Supreme Court Judge Justice V. Ramasubramanian has released a book titled ‘India’s Struggle for Independence – Gandhian Era’, authored by P. Jyothimani, former Judge, Madras High Court, and G. Balan, former professor of History, Pachiayappa’s College.
  8. Tablesh Pandey and M. Jagannath have been appointed as the Managing Directors of the Life Insurance Company (LIC). Tablesh Pandey will take over on 1 April 2023, and M. Jagannath started working on 13 March, 2023.
  9. India qualified for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 final on 13 March, 2023 after winning its fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against Australia by 2-1.
  10. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) granted an ‘Infrastructure Finance Company (IFC)’ status to Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA). It was earlier classified as an ‘Investment and Credit Company (ICC)’.
  11. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 9 National Highway Projects in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh.
  12. In Madhya Pradesh, Governor Mangubhai Patel inaugurated the third Divya Kala Mela at the Bhopal Haat on 12 March, 2023.
  13. Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company Ltd. on 13 March 2023, announced the launch of Kotak Silver Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) Fund of Fund.
  14. In Nagpur, Maharashtra, a new project known as ‘beggar-free city’ has been launched.
  15. IIT Guwahati on 13 March 2023, signed an MoU with Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital, Ahmedabad to foster Cardiac research.  
  16. IDFC Mutual Fund has rebranded itself as Bandhan Mutual Fund and its schemes are reflecting the new name from 13 March, 2023.
